This thing is so damn weird and cute that I had to pick it today. It’s pretty specific on what type of alarm clock you get, but the pattern itself is really simple and straightforward. I think this would be great for a kid’s room, but I know I would love to have this when I go to college in the fall.

Sardonyx Scarf

For our second Awesome Pattern, I picked a scarf that mixes lace and cables. Now, if you’re sitting there thinking, “Lace AND cables! That’s too challenging for me!”, you’re ridiculous. Lace and cables, even when mixed, are nothing too difficult. Of course, I won’t recommend it if you haven’t tried both on their own at least once, but once you’ve got the hang of it, it produces really great pieces, like this scarf. The pattern has both a chart and written out instruction, and it’s easy to make it any width you’d like. It would make a great birthday gift for a fashionable lady in your life.

First, an apology for skipping a day; I had a basketball game last night, so I didn’t have any free time. There is also a chance I’ll be skipping tomorrow as well, sorry!

Today, I have a hat for you. It’s advertised as a runner’s hat: lightweight, soft, and washable. It’s also got a crazy amount of stretch, fitting both the author’s daughter and her husband. This is a great design for both ladies and gents. Available in both written out and charted.

Hat and Scarf with Rhombuses

To start off the Awesome Pattern series, I chose some boy-knitwear, because I never seem to be able to find awesome things to knit for the men in my life. This hat and scarf set looks manly enough for any boy to wear, and the pattern is pretty simple as well. There is just a chart, no written out instructions, but it doesn’t look complicated at all. I’m definitely going to keep this in mind the next time I have to knit for one of my male friends.
